The Southern Uplands field trip was the second of the two pre-independent mapping project trips.

We were taken into the field by Dr. Mev Jones, Dr. Mike Ledera and is dog. We had loads of fun in the wet weather, firstly down on the southern coast then later being drenched in Chernobyl fall-out on the northern coast. The other highlights included getting UCL geology field trips banned from a camping site after an incident after a toga party. (Someone fell asleep whilst holding a glass of orange juice spilling it on the bed. The camp staff thought the person had relieved himself in the bed.)
